It may sound obvious, but you should also place your passport there to avoid losing it. The last thing you want is to disembark from the plane and realize that you’ve misplaced your passport when you arrive at immigration. If you are traveling domestically, make sure you have your driver’s license or ID card with you. You may also be required to carry your passport if your domestic flight is in a foreign country.

To ensure extra safety, keep the bag containing your valuables close to you at all times by placing it under your seat or the overhead compartment directly above you.
4/ Prescription and medication

It’s amazing how many people pack their prescriptions in their checked bags before a long-haul flight, forgetting that they may need to take them during the flight. It tends to happen mostly with elderly passengers going to see their children on the other side of the world and then realizing later that they need their medication.

Sometimes, people with severe allergies leave their EpiPen in their suitcase and then come into contact with the allergen. Both can be life-threatening and even fatal. This will help you get the necessary treatment and avoid causing a medical emergency onboard. It’s always better to be on the safe side!
5/ Amenity kit

Keep all these items in a small toiletry bag or even a kit bag from another airline if you wish. Also add a pen, as there will undoubtedly be some form to fill in somewhere along the line. If you get really stuck, the trusty flight attendants or other passengers may well have a few pens in their pockets taken from the last hotel they stayed in. Flight attendants suggest that it is one of the most requested items onboard!
Ultimately, these five things will help you have a smoother journey and stay comfortable on longer trips. There are several other things you can pack in your hand luggage, but be careful not to overload yourself with unnecessary things. There is a long list of items you are not allowed to carry in your hand or checked luggage, so avoid packing them if you want to stay out of trouble.
