Be stress-free and make your flight more comfortable.
Traveling is stressful, the airport experience can be challenging and flights can sometimes feel brutal. It’s easy to lose or forget things during your trip or forget exactly where you put that essential item. So let’s make things easier and hopefully have a safe and comfortable trip.
5/ The information file
Keep all your documents together in a plastic file for easy access. It may sound obvious but place your passport in there too, there is less chance of it getting lost or falling out of your pocket. Many a flight has been missed because of an errant passport. Have paper copies of your flight ticket and hotel reservation as a backup to your digital ones, as you never know when you may need them and technology isn’t always our friend.
4 /Phone and charger
It is likely that your phone battery will not last until you reach your hotel, so keep your charger in your hand luggage for any emergency charging. Of course, your phone can be used for entertainment purposes if there is no inflight entertainment onboard. Don’t forget your headphones for privacy – it avoids using the airline ones which have usually been washed and used quite a few times! And don’t forget to put your phone in airplane mode.
3 /Valuables
Things do get lost at the airport, mostly at security screening. Sometimes, items have even been stolen at the airport, where baggage handlers have broken into suitcases, looking for expensive items. So it’s advisable that anything you consider valuable is kept close by in your hand luggage. Of course, we are not talking about a valuable antique dresser, but items like watches, jewelry, small electronics, etc. just for your own peace of mind.
2 /Prescription
It’s amazing how many people pack their prescriptions in their hold luggage before a long-haul flight, forgetting that they may need to take them during the flight. It tends to happen mostly with elderly passengers going to see their children on the other side of the world and then unfortunately realizing they are sick and need their medication. Or sometimes, people with severe allergies leave their EpiPen in their suitcase and then come into contact with the allergen. Both can be life-threatening, even fatal, and will cause a medical emergency. Better to be on the safe side!
1 /Amenity kit
Not all of us are lucky enough to receive a free airline amenity kit, but we can always take our own. Mini-size toiletries such as a face wash, toothbrush and toothpaste, facial mist, and lip balm will make you feel more refreshed during the flight. A pair of socks or slippers will bring comfort and warmth to an aircraft with Antarctic air conditioning.
